Events

The 4th Annual Monarch Mania Festival will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Cobb Island, Maryland. There will be monarch tagging and releasing, lectures and how to design a garden to attract butterflies. There will also be food and craft vendors, and games/events for children. It is a free event.

Why Cobb Island? It is a known stopover that monarchs take on their migration.

These are a few images I took from Cobb Island Days 2014.  It was combined with the local Yacht Club events.   Not all of the vendors are viewed and some were still setting up, so the images don’t quite convey the size of the event.   There were a number of other craft and food vendors there as well as a dance/music troupe (Chin Hamaya Taiko Drum Group), lectures, demonstrations, a parade and other family-friendly events.  We really enjoyed learning about the local wildlife and the canine search and recovery (Millie – a sweet and beautiful bloodhound)/K-9 demonstrations.  Thanks to everyone who came out to support the local community!
